Tennis, Tennis, Tennis
Throughout this term we have been lucky enough to have participated in specialist tennis lessons each Friday. Throughout these lessons we have become quite the tennis superstars! With games getting more and more competitive. The serves are getting much better, the scoring is interesting and hits are kind of staying inside the court!
First Chapter Friday We started our first First Chapter Friday this week. Each Friday we will read the first chapter , and only the first chapter, of a different book. The idea is to not only expose students to a variety of text types and genres but to also get them interested and engaged and want to keep reading! We started with the first chapter of Restart, written by Gordon Korman.
We thoroughly enjoyed the first chapter of this book and there were many students asking to keep reading it! |
Captains doing their jobs!
Our school and house captains have been working hard and have taken on their responsibilities with enthusiasm and maturity. The hardest part was getting everyone smiling AND looking at the camera for their photos ;)
The Start of Year 6!
It has busy start to year 6. We were so impressed by how well our year 6 buddies worked with their kindergarten buddies throughout the first couple of wees of school. It has really helped our kindergarten students to settle in and feel more confident and comfortable within the school playground.
The start of the year has been action packed with students working hard from day 1! Our classroom is already filled with students artworks, our classroom economy is up and running, we have completed some assessments and started new units of work. Our Special Interest Groups are already well and truly underway, with students choosing to undertake lessons that are of interest to them. Some of these specialist areas include; sports coaching, community development, gardening, movie making, school newspaper, pottery, music, crafts and the list goes on. If that wasn't enough during week 3 we started our Tennis sessions. Most students had a wonderful time with some students laughing more than hitting the ball and others smashing it and challenging Mr E!
